After five years serving as the firm’s president, the Steier Group has promoted Matt Vuorela to Chief Executive Officer.

“This is an acknowledgement of the work that Matt is already doing,” Steier said. “He’s serving the Steier Group in such an important capacity. I think it is only right to acknowledge the tremendous work he is doing in leading the firm.”

Steier will continue his duties as the founder of the Steier Group. Now with the new title of Chairman of the Board.

“I’m all in for the Steier Group,” Vuorela said. “I’m excited to keep growing the work that we do with the Catholic Church across North America. And I appreciate Jim putting this level of trust in me.”

Over the firm’s 26-year history, the Steier Group has raised $2.8 billion for Catholic causes across North America. We support churches, schools, dioceses and other organizations through onsite, full-service capital campaign management. Under Vuorela’s leadership as president, the firm has raised $855 million. All while weathering the pandemic.

“As a Catholic firm, the Steier Group is invested – personally, spiritually and professionally – in doing our part to help Catholic organizations reach their important fundraising goals,” Vuorela said. “We are dedicated to helping the church through stewardship, development and fundraising.”

Vuorela joined the Steier Group in 2009 after working in the legal field for more than 15 years. He spent time as a campaign manager before joining the firm’s executive team. He has successfully managed and supervised efforts for Catholic dioceses, parishes and high schools across the country.

“Matt’s passion and dedication to advancing the mission of nonprofits through fundraising has proven to be beneficial for the clients he serves and the Steier Group as a whole,” Steier said. “He plays a vital role in the success of our campaigns.”

Vuorela is a graduate of Creighton Preparatory School and Creighton University. Matt and his wife, Liz, have three children. The Vuorela family attend St. Wenceslaus in Omaha, Nebraska.
