Giving Tuesday Now Talking Points

Make sure to address #GivingTuesdayNow while live streaming your weekend church services.

It is the perfect time to communicate the importance of supporting the church and other organizations during this day of giving. And it will serve as a reminder of the fast approaching date.


Suggested Pulpit Talking Points- April 25/26

    • We are probably all familiar with the annual Giving Tuesday movement which has inspired hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate and celebrate generosity for communities and nonprofits around the world.
    • In just over a week, on May 5, we will participate in Giving Tuesday Now which is an emergency response to the unprecedented crisis caused by COVID-19.
    • This day is not intended to replace the traditional Giving Tuesday event held on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, but rather is designed to help offset some of the significant financial losses many nonprofit organizations are facing because of social distancing and the economic downturn.
    • This health crisis has impacted our parish significantly.
    • Our most urgent need is (be specific, honest and transparent).
    • We have set a monetary goal of (insert goal).
    • Every dollar raised during Giving Tuesday Now will (describe in a few sentences how their contribution to Giving Tuesday Now will be used).
    • We understand this is a challenging time for many and that not everyone may be able to participate.
    • Our hope is that you will join us, in whatever way you can, during this global day of unity and giving.

  • This coming Tuesday, May 5, is Giving Tuesday Now.
  • As I mentioned last week, this day has been designed to help offset some of the significant financial losses many nonprofit organizations are facing because of social distancing and the economic downturn.
  • We are blessed at that we have been able to (list programs and ministries that continue to thrive; participate in a food or supply drive; connect parishioners to resources, etc.)
  • But we need your help with (be specific, honest and transparent).
  • Our goal for Giving Tuesday Now (insert monetary goal).
  • Every dollar raised during Giving Tuesday Now will (describe in a few sentences how their contribution to #GivingTuesdayNow will be used.)
  • We understand this is a challenging time for many and that not everyone may be able to participate.
  • Our hope is that you will join us, in whatever way you can, during this global day of unity and giving.
  • TOGETHER – we can do it!
