St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Boerne, Texas, faced a lack of parking and space for its ministries, but did not have the room to expand. That’s when the Benedictine Sisters presented a golden opportunity – the chance to buy land adjacent to the church. For a growing community that is expected to add more than 1,200 families over the next five to eight years, this was a key to step toward securing the parish’s future. The timing was right to conduct a combined capital campaign along with the archdiocesan-wide effort being run by the Archdiocese of San Antonio. The Our Past, Our Future: Growing in Grace Capital Campaign would address the parish’s archdiocesan campaign portion and pay for the land purchase. This was the fifth campaign in 20 years for the community. By following the Steier Group’s fundraising model, the parish raised almost two times the amount of the highest previous campaign.
