St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church and School, a vibrant community in Davenport, Iowa, faced pressing building needs that had not been addressed since a church renovation in the 1980s. Through a needs assessment and a campaign planning study, parish leadership zeroed in on the items that needed attention most. The resulting Glorifying God through Gratitude and Gift Capital Campaign made possible a restoration of the parish’s beautiful church, including preservation of its stained glass windows, repainting of its interior, an upgrade of the lighting and improvements in accessibility. In addition, electrical and mechanical improvements were made to church and school, the school office and entrance were remodeled, and the school’s accessibility was improved. This successful capital campaign raised more than $2.6 million, or 111 percent of its goal.
