St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church

With new, young families moving to the area, St. Margaret of Scotland Parish in St. Louis, Missouri, partnered with the Steier Group to run a capital campaign with a focus on its school. The plan included school improvements and a new middle school building, the first new building constructed by an inner-city Catholic school in St. Louis in 50 years. In 2015, the school completed its campus by constructing a free-standing middle school building. St. Margaret of Scotland partnered with the Steier Group again in 2018 for a campaign to install air conditioning in the parish’s two older school buildings and gym, plus make necessary church renovations. The Steier Group set the stage for a successful campaign by conducting a comprehensive planning study. The study involved educating parishioners on the projects and surveying them to gauge support. The campaign’s primary solicitation strategy involved personal appeals to donor prospects where each was asked to consider a specific request amount. The Steier Group’s approach also included recruiting volunteers to assist with personal appeals, phoning nights and other key duties. The Steier Group’s customized approach helped the parish raise more than $3.5 million in two campaigns.
