THE CHALLENGE

Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Beech Grove, Indiana, is deeply rooted in a tradition of spiritual and communal growth. However, the aging infrastructure and outdated systems have posed challenges to the safety, comfort and functionality of the church and school. Key issues include antiquated electrical and public address systems, inefficient heating and cooling units, and inadequate building access controls. The need to address these problems while also enhancing educational resources and facilities became increasingly urgent. Church leadership examined engineering and architectural concerns comprehensively, aiming to secure the necessary funds to revitalize the campus and support the future of the church community.

THE VISION

A capital campaign aimed to enhance the safety, efficiency and educational quality of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church and School. The campaign’s objectives include:

• Upgrading the electrical systems, public address systems and building access controls to ensure a safer and more secure environment for all users.
• Overhauling the school’s heating and air conditioning systems and replacing the church’s rooftop air conditioning unit to improve climate control.
• Installing a new ambo to enrich liturgical services.
• Creating a teacher’s endowment to attract and retain exceptional teaching staff.
• Repaving and restriping the parking lots to improve safety and accessibility.

THE SOLUTION

To achieve these ambitious goals, church leadership partnered with the Steier Group to create the Building upon a Giant Tradition Capital Campaign. Mobilize the parish community through a strategic blend of direct outreach, targeted fundraising events and detailed informational presentations, these efforts were supported by various services like graphic design and grant writing with the Steier Group team. This comprehensive approach successfully ensured the necessary resources were secured to modernize the facilities, enhance educational opportunities and fortify the church’s role as a pillar of faith in the community.
