Strong parishes, strong diocese. This mantra, from the Most Reverend Douglas Crosby, summed up the Diocese of Hamilton’s capital campaign. By focusing a diocesan-wide capital campaign on boosting each parish, the diocese would succeed as a whole. With this idea in mind, the Diocese of Hamilton and the Steier Group team crafted a unique campaign structure built to inspire support from all parishes. Seventy-five percent of funds raised were returned to parishes, with an additional 10% designated to assist parishes that had greater needs. The final 15% funded shared ministries like campus ministry and ministry to migrant workers. This approach inspired support from pastors and parishioners alike. Despite facing challenges during the coronavirus pandemic, the diocese, located in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, raised more than $36.6 million to create strong parishes and improve ministries.
