In 2006, Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Aliso Viejo, California, celebrated Mass for the first time in its own beautiful new building – a first after eight years of Masses in a school or in office space. But more than a decade later, the parish still struggled with debt from the building project. Yearly fundraising was no longer paying down the mortgage at a prudent rate; the community would need another 40 years to fully pay off the debt. Parish leadership knew it was time to act. By partnering with the Steier Group in the Building an Inheritance of Hope Capital Campaign, the parish took a big step toward erasing the debt. Thanks to the dedicated persistence of campaign volunteers, this capital campaign overcame initial skepticism to achieve success.
