THE CHALLENGE
Founded in 1908 by the Sisters of St. Joseph, generations of students have been formed at Sacred Heart Jr./Sr. High School in Salina, Kansas. However, several challenges were faced by the Catholic school community of Salina. Aging facilities required renewal and improvements to meet the needs of the students. Growing demands for innovation in academics, fine arts and athletics would need additional and improved spaces and resources. The time had come for bold action.
THE VISION
Inspired by the holy boldness of the Sisters of St. Joseph, Sacred Heart leadership was prepared to honor the past and shape the future with an extraordinary fundraising effort. Goals for a capital campaign included:
- Strengthening student programs that nurture the whole person.
- Enhancing facilities for student growth by modernizing and improving spaces.
- Directing additional funds to the Sacred Heart capital building fund, ensuring future facility needs can be met without straining the operating budget.
THE SOLUTION
Through a partnership with the Steier Group, Sacred Heart collaborated to create the Expanding Spirit, Mind, and Body Legacy Campaign. Guided by the Salina Catholic Schools’ Strategic Plan, leadership aligned resources and priorities with the cohesive vision. Donors responded enthusiastically to the customized capital campaign. With a dedicated manager onsite for the duration of the project and a graphic designer and support staff to enhance the entire campaign experience, Sacred Heart was able to improve the experience of students and families by creating a more invested and connected community to endure into the future.
