St. Gabriel the Archangel Episcopal Church, in south Denver, is a tight-knit community of 200 families. Members praised the family-like feel of the church. And much as a family must sometimes update a home, St. Gabriel needed to address issues on its campus. With that in mind, church leadership hired the Steier Group for a campaign planning study and capital campaign. The fundraising effort – called Rooted in Christ. Forward in Faith – aimed to improve the safety and comfort of all who worship at St. Gabriel. Many in this fiscally conservative church believed a capital campaign was impossible. Through proactive and clear communications, consistent volunteer management, and a well-constructed plan of tiered project goals, the church overcame the doubts to raise 130 percent of its goal. Thanks to the successful effort, this faith family can replace its old HVAC system and repave its parking lot to reduce icing issues.
