Richard is an active member of Hope Presbyterian Church, serving as a liturgist and usher. He also taught confirmation class for three years and, on occasion, is asked to address the congregation.

Richard is a former broadcaster who spent 20 years in the business and enjoys trivia. Question: Who is the only player in MLB history to hit a walk-off, inside-the- park grand slam? Answer: Roberto Clemente against the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday, July 25, 1956.
Hobbies:
Richard loves to read and study history; his favorite subjects include the American Civil War, World War I and World War II.
