Joe is married to Earline, and they have two adult children, Jonathan and Michael. Both of whom, work for the mission of the church. Rev. Jonathan Raia is vocation director for the Diocese of Austin; Michael is an architect who builds and renovates Catholic churches and is very involved in youth ministry.

Community Involvement:
Joe is an active member of his parish and community. He belongs to St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Houston where he serves as an EME, charismatic prayer group leader, Bible study leader and retreat leader. He has also served as pastoral council president and a member of the building committee. He was school board president and a member of the capital campaign committee for St. John Paul II Catholic School. He has also served on the leadership initiatives board at University of Houston Bauer College and the pastoral planning committee for the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston. He has volunteered with Habitat for Humanity and Boy Scouts and coached youth baseball.

Interesting Fact:
Joe was an Eagle Scout and a medic in the Army Reserves. He and his family once attended Christmas Midnight Mass at the Vatican celebrated by St. John Paul II.

Hobbies:
Joe enjoys spending time with family, travel and reading.
