St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Houston, Texas, has flourished for more than 80 years in part because of its strong commitment to Catholic education. The large parish has over 4,000 families and an outstanding school. But the school’s aging facilities no longer matched the high quality of the academic programs. The school’s 70-year-old Intermediate Building, for example, hadn’t been renovated in nearly three decades and would require costly upgrades that would be almost as expensive as new construction. The parish knew it was time to invest in its facilities. After careful study, the school partnered with the Steier Group on the Building Bright Futures Capital Campaign to construct a new Catholic Education Building. The plans included repurposing classrooms in the school’s Primary Building to create much-needed additional gathering spaces for the parish.
