The Cristo Rey network opened a school in Omaha in 2007, graduated its first class in 2011, and closed shortly after graduation ceremonies leaving the Archdiocese of Omaha with a large bill. The Steier Group conducted a capital campaign and the effort received great media support as well as the attention of the mayor. The majority of funds raised during the campaign were from foundations both locally and nationally.
