With the guidance of the Steier Group, St. Bernadette Parish in Scottsdale, Arizona, conducted a capital campaign to build a new church building. A major challenge was to peak the interest of a large segment of the parish community through the church design process. Abandoning the design trend of low-profile, Southwestern-style architecture that is popular in the area, the pastor encouraged the construction of a traditional church. To gain interest and understanding, letters to parishioners promoted the meaning of sacred architecture. Volunteers were lively, well-informed and engaged, which significantly contributed to the momentum of this successful fundraising effort. In 2017, several hundred parishioners and guests attended the three-hour dedication Mass for the beautiful new church.
