St. Angela Merici Catholic Church

St. Angela Merici Catholic Church in Missouri City, Texas, has experienced strong growth in its faith community. The parish, founded in 2007, started with 10 families meeting in parishioners’ homes. The parish flourished, growing to more than 1,500 registered families, although its worship space could only seat 500 people. Plus, more than 1,000 children participated in religious education, but only three classrooms were available. Parish leadership carefully examined the faith community’s needs, mindful of the congregation’s growth and the expected growth in the surrounding area. After prayer, deliberation and input from the congregation, the parish decided to construct a new sanctuary and administration building. The plan also called for renovating the existing Parish Life Center into a much larger Religious Education Building. The parish partnered with the Steier Group on the Realizing our Vision Capital Campaign to help carry out the plan. Campaign preparation included developing a communication’s plan, recruiting campaign leadership and evaluating donors. With the help of active volunteers and visionary leadership, the campaign raised more than $4 million, positioning the parish for a strong future. Because of the successful campaign, the parish is now celebrating Mass in its beautiful, new church.
