Sacred Heart Catholic Church

Sacred Heart Catholic Church has deep roots in its community of Arkansas City, Kansas. Its church building was dedicated in 1920 and its school was blessed just a few years later. The buildings have served the parish well, but nearly a century of wear and tear took a toll. Parish families were deeply concerned about deferred maintenance, and the faith community knew the time had come to address overdue facility improvements. The parish partnered with the Steier Group on the Affirming Our Tradition Capital Campaign. The effort would fund such work as replacing the furnace, replacing the school’s roof and upgrading the plumbing and electrical systems. The Steier Group’s personal approach to fundraising produced excellent results. Parish leadership and the firm examined each potential donor’s giving history to determine specific gift requests. The strategy allowed the parish to draw financial support from major donors. Effective communications, including an FAQ document and lay testimonials, educated potential donors about the campaign. The Steier Group helped lead Sacred Heart to fundraising success, with the campaign generating more than $1 million to keep the parish and its buildings going strong.
