St. Peter Catholic Church and School

THE CHALLENGE

Since its founding in 1832, St. Peter Catholic Church has been a cornerstone of faith, service and education in Kirkwood, Missouri. Generations of parishioners have answered Christ’s call to cast wide their nets, deepening their commitment to him through worship and outreach. But time has taken its toll on the parish campus. Recognizing the growing limitations of aging infrastructure, the pastor and parish leaders launched a master planning process in 2021 to assess the future needs of the community. With guidance from an architecture firm and valuable insight from hundreds of parish families, a comprehensive plan emerged to strengthen parish life, improve safety and support future growth.

THE VISION

The need for a major fundraising effort was apparent. Through a meticulous planning process, the St. Peter community recognized specific needs for improvements. Projects include:

• Upgrade the HVAC system to provide central air throughout the building and gym entrance for ADA compliance.
• Renovate student and staff restrooms.
• Purchase and renovate a home adjacent to the school gym for clergy housing.
• Convert the existing rectory into collaborative office and ministry space.
• Provide improved facilities for staff and volunteers supporting parish life.
• Plan and develop a new parish hall gathering space for events, meetings and school activities.
• Enhance infrastructure to support increased use and ensure accessibility.

THE SOLUTION

By moving forward in faith, St. Peter built a stronger foundation for generations to come. In partnership with the Steier Group, the Casting Wide Our Nets Capital Campaign was built to reflect the spirit of the parish’s namesake, calling the community to trust in God’s providence while investing in a future filled with service, growth and grace. Partnering with the Steier Group brought expertise and structure to every phase of the effort. A full-time, on-site campaign manager ensured consistent engagement and leadership throughout the campaign. All graphic design needs were handled in-house, providing professional-quality materials tailored to the parish’s mission and audience. The Steier Group’s team of grant writers and data analysts also supported strategic outreach and targeted communications. With the Steier Group, St. Peter Catholic Church successfully united its parish community and laid the groundwork for a vibrant and sustainable future.
