THE CHALLENGE

Risen Christ Catholic Church in southwest Boise, Idaho, has experienced remarkable growth since its founding in 1992, emerging as a vibrant and Christ-centered parish. In recent years, that growth has accelerated significantly, with a surge in new households, baptisms and individuals entering the Catholic Church, clear signs of a thriving and welcoming faith community. However, this vitality also revealed limitations: overflowing Mass attendance, constrained parking and insufficient space to fully support parish life and ministries. While the parish had been designed with future expansion in mind, the moment had arrived to act. The challenge was clear: how to thoughtfully expand facilities in a way that preserved the parish’s mission of radical hospitality while responsibly stewarding resources for continued growth.

THE VISION

The Risen Christ community embraced a vision grounded in its identity as a welcoming, life-giving parish. The expansion plan was carefully designed to meet both immediate and future needs. Goals included:

• Expanding the sanctuary to increase seating capacity and improve accessibility.
• Creating a dedicated cry room to better serve families with young children.
• Adding restrooms to accommodate a growing congregation.
• Expanding parking to improve access and hospitality for parishioners and visitors.
• Laying the groundwork for future phases of growth aligned with the parish’s long-term master plan.

THE SOLUTION

Risen Christ partnered with the Steier Group to implement a mission-driven campaign that aligned vision with action. The Rooted in Christ, Rising Together Capital Campaign unified parishioners around a shared call to grow in faith while making room for others. With clear communication, strong leadership and a focus on stewardship, the parish successfully engaged its rapidly growing community in a meaningful way. The effort was presented not as a wish list, but as a necessary and carefully discerned response to real growth already taking place. Through this collaborative effort, Risen Christ is expanding its capacity to worship, gather and serve, ensuring that it remains a place where lives are transformed, families feel at home and future generations can continue to rise together in Christ.
