In 1995, the Diocese of Reno was re-established as its own entity after the split of the Diocese of Reno-Las Vegas. Since that time, the Catholic diocese in Nevada supported major renovations and building projects at nearly every parish and school in the community. In 2013, the Second Synod of the Diocese of Reno brought more than 275 delegates together to chart a future path for the diocese. With this plan in mind, the Diocese of Reno engaged the Steier Group for a successful campaign planning study and the Today Tomorrow Together Capital Campaign. The campaign focused on growing two different funds. By growing the endowment fund, the diocese could better support seminarians, reinstate the permanent diaconate program and continue to grow its ministries. Additionally, bolstering the Deposit and Loan Fund, which serves as a bank for parishes and schools, would allow for better financial support moving forward. Under the leadership of Bishop Calvo, the diocese rallied around these causes to surpass the Steier Group’s projected goal.
