Missouri Western State University (MWSU) appropriately named its ongoing capital campaign: Achieving Greatness. Those are not mere words but rather a real call to action for the thriving university in St. Joseph, Mo. To date, the campaign has raised more than $14.2 million, which is 95 percent of its goal. It has achieved this great height because of the exceptional relationship it has built and maintained with its friends and donors.
An outstanding 50 percent of its donors to the campaign gave more than their total lifetime giving on record. “These gains are just some of the examples of how the Steier Group helped us enhance our ‘culture of philanthropy’ during the campaign,” said Dan J. Nicoson, vice president for University Advancement and executive director, Missouri Western State University Foundation.
“As a result, the participation of time, talent and financial resources among some key constituent groups was significantly increased during the campaign. Three of the four largest gifts in the University’s history were realized during the advanced gifts phase of the campaign,” Nicoson added.
The Achieving Greatness campaign focused on four primary goals:
• Mission Endowment ($1 million)
• Establish the Craig School of Business ($5.5 million)
• Emerging Needs ($1 million)
• Renovations to Remington and Agenstein Halls ($7.5 million)
MWSU is moving forward with passion and energy to shatter its celebration goal of $15 million, as it transforms its campus, the community and the region it serves.
“I am thankful for the assistance we received, and continue to receive, from the Steier Group,” said Nicoson.
