The Hope Center for Kids, in Omaha, Nebraska reached its Miracle Goal of raising more than $2 million for the Making a Difference Capital Campaign.
During December 2005, a donor created a reverse gift challenge for the Hope Center for Kids. If the Hope Center could raise $100,000 in one month, then the donor would match the amount raised, dollar-for-dollar.
With that challenge in mind and thanks to the effort of the campaign leadership, the Hope Center Board, Pastor Ty Schenzel, executive director and Judi Huff, development director, the campaign raised just over $100,000 in December to move its campaign total to $2 million.
"The response to the challenge and the entire campaign has been overwhelming," said Pastor Ty. "The commitment from our donors and friends is a true blessing. We simply could not have accomplished this without their dedication and passion for our vision."
The Making a Difference Capital Campaign addresses the need to renovate the existing Hope Center building, which needs a new roof and updates to its heating, cooling, plumbing and electrical systems; plus complete the funding for Hope Skate, a 22,000-square-foot facility in North Omaha; as well as boost the operating fund.
Yearly more than 400 youth and children, ages 7-19 years old, benefit from the Hope Center for Kids. The Center offers a safe refuge and nutritious meals, educational tutoring, life-skills training and job creation for youth and children.
