Our Clients – Success Stories

In every capital campaign, the ability to establish and maintain momentum is as critical as articulating the needs and asking for support. The St. Mary’s Cathedral Campaign, in Fargo, N.D., is a great illustration of capturing and enhancing the energy of passionate friends and donors to successfully address the needs of a church and a community.

St. Mary’s Cathedral, as the mother church of the Diocese of Fargo, serves 87,000 Catholics, including 650 families, in the eastern half of North Dakota. The St. Mary’s Cathedral Campaign addressed a plan for the renovation of the church basement/social hall, construction of a new adoration chapel and the renovation of the office and classroom building.

A key multi-million dollar lead gift, coupled with solid leadership and a supportive constituency provided momentum to steer the church throughout the remaining comprehensive fundraising plan – a strategy designed by the Steier Group.

“Their (Steier Group) dedication and enthusiasm energized our volunteers and united them toward reaching our goal,” said the Very Rev. C. F. Wilhelm, rector of St. Mary’s Cathedral.

“Everyone from the on-site campaign manager, to the communications experts and executive team proved to be professional, honest and extremely hard-working,” added Fr. Wilhelm.

With commitments of more than $5.3 million to date from parishioners and friends across the diocese, the Cathedral is close to fully funding the entire construction and renovation project. Renovations are in full swing for the church basement, parish office and classroom building.
